BACON BOXCUTTERS a Novel by Jim E.M. Miles

This is My First Novel

Comment by Jim E.M. Miles, Orléans, Ontario (author) on December 16, 2009

I have tried to put together a story in the manner of Ludlum, Clancy, and Grisham, who have captured my interest on many occasions. I took episodes and characters from my army past and business life and pumped them up, hopefully just the right amount.

A Timely Topic to Build a Thriller On

Comment by Ronald C. Parker, London, Ontario (Jim's Uncle Ron) on December 29, 2009

Bacon Boxcutters is the kind of read I really enjoy. It grabs you from the first page and hangs on to you until the last word has been writ. Jim Miles cleverly spins an intricate web from which his characters must untangle themselves.

I Love a Hero You can Laugh at and Feel Sorry For

Comment by Stephanie Miles, Kanata, Ontario (Jim's oldest daughter) on January 12, 2010

It’s a gut-wrenching, heart-breaking, side-splitting read that appeals to me because the dramatic events have nothing extravagant or super-human. The characters seem real, and their emotions come out. I feel what they seem to feel.

A Story for Everyone

Comment by Edward W.J. Miles, Victoria, British Columbia (Jim's Dad) on January 24, 2010

Bacon Boxcutters is a fast moving, exciting adventure that every man would like to live. The hero is decisive, powerful and witty - the kind of man every man wants to be and every woman wants to know. His friends are loyal, clever and resourceful - the kind of friends everybody would like to have. In short, this is the kind of story I always thought that I could write but since I couldn't and didn't, I'm proud that my son could and did.

Fictional but Frightening

Comment by Garth von Einsiedel, Orléans Ontario, February 5, 2010

Bacon Boxcutters is timely and topical. Fiction maybe, but it echoes what's going on in the world today. The characters are 3-D and the plot is downright scary. A gripping and action-packed tale from start to finish.

The Author and His Friends Won't Grow Up

Comment by Sgt Donna Feuerherm, Kanata Ontario, February 15, 2010

Bacon Boxcutters features middle aged men caught up in intrigue and adventure. Is Jim trying to re-create his glory years when he served in the Canadian Forces? This book is action-packed and will appeal to anyone who enjoys adventure. Jim has written an excellent first novel and I look forward to seeing what happens in a sequel.

Who the hell knew you could write?

Comment by Dennis Jones, Victoria, British Columbia March 15, 2010

I had to finish that damn book before I could get back to work. I was ignoring a client. I can finally go back to interacting with my family. I couldn’t put this book down. Bacon Boxcutters is a great page-turner and I also cannot wait for the sequel. Great work James!
